Basic Art
◊ Basic Art is designed to develop and improve a working understanding of the visual arts fundamentals
◊ This foundation course covers the basic arts elements including line, shape, value, form, space, color, and texture
◊ It provides an introduction to varied art media including drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture
◊ The course is rounded out by an examination of art history through the ages and formal critiques of famous artists, art periods and techniques
Ceramics/Sculpture
◊ Students will develop skills in hand-building techniques, use of the potter's wheel, glazes, kiln construction, and firing
◊ The program will help students to analyze elements of design and learn how to relate to three-dimensional forms
◊ Students will also develop skills in the use of ceramic tools and equipment
◊ Students will develop skills using various media and approaches
◊ The program will help students to analyze elements of design and how to relate to three-dimensional forms
◊ Students will also develop personal craftsmanship in carving, modeling, brazing, and the use of tools and equipment
Introduction to Graphic Arts and Photography
◊ This course is designed for the student who has a beginning interest in Graphic Communications and Photography
◊ Areas covered in this course will be silkscreen printing, layout and design, and photography and requires no previous knowledge
◊ Along with techniques taught, this course will enclude safety in silkscreen printing, a basic introduction ot darkroom photography, implementation of various design skills using the computer and other technical components
◊ A proper instruction on operating all equipment to complete the task and safe and proper instruction on using all chemicals
