If you are an incoming freshman, you probably have a lot of questions regarding your move to Monmouth Regional High School. The English Department is here to help.  Please know that our goal is to ensure a smooth transition for all of our incoming freshman. With English being a four year graduation requirement, we hope the following information helps put you on a successful path of opportunity and growth.

For our incoming freshman, you have your choice of English I Honors or English I CCR. The following is a breakdown of the differences between each course:

Syllabus for English I Honors (Grade 9) OR  Syllabus for English I CCR (Grade 9)*

Summer Reading Requirements for each course (due the first day of school)

English I Honors SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENT or English I CCR SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENT

*Choosing English I CCR as a freshman, will never prohibit you from moving up to Honors or even AP English course opprotunities  for your sophomore, junior or senior year. In fact, many students choose the CCR level as an incoming freshman to help them get used to the workload and expectations of the English program here at the high school.

In order to help you understand your choices and opportunities beyond freshman year, please consider the following pathways:
