First of all, welcome to our math classes!  I love math!  The underlying concepts of mathematics model regular everyday logic, and I try to emphasize this in our class.

I currently teach ELL Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 Honors, and Calculus Honors.  In our classes, I urge all of you to be mathematical risk takers!  What I mean by that is, do not be afraid of trying problems you may not feel completely comfortable with.  It's a part of the learning process!  One can only succeed in math if they are willing to persevere when they are "unsure".  It happens to all of us! 

Math is nothing to be afraid of.  It takes effort, but once you train your brain to see the math in the way that is best for you, it will open a whole new way of seeing the world.  The key is not memorizing steps, but taking the time to understand the reasons, the "whys".  "Good mathematics is not about how many answers you know...
