Mr. Mark Gottdenker

I have been a teacher and track & field coach at Monmouth Regional High School since the fall of 2010.

I currently teach 9th and 11th grade Health & Physical Education.

Prior to teaching at MRHS, I was a college instructor and track & field coach.  I spent time teaching undergraduate college students and coaching at Monmouth University, Pennsylvania State University (University Park), the University of Massachusetts (Amherst), and Cornell University.

I hold Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of New Hampshire (Outdoor Education) and SUNY Cortland (Physical Education Pedagogy) and a Master of Science degree from Indiana University (Bloomington) in Kinesiology.  I have taken additional graduate classes at New Jersey City University and the University of Colorado (Colorado Springs).  I am currently working towards a Master of Education through Plymouth State College (NH) in Experiential Learning & Development.

I have the following certifications: NJ Teacher of Health & Physical Education and Driver Education; NY Teacher of Physical Education; (NSCA) Strength & Conditioning Specialist; (USA Weightlifting) Sports Performance Coach; (USA Track & Field) Level I Coach/Level II Coach in the Throwing Events; (NFHS) Accredited Interscholastic Coach;  (NFHS) Certified Interscholastic Coach; (NASAR) Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician;  (American Heart Association) Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers; (American Heart Association) Basic Life Support Instructor; and (NYS) Child Abuse Reporting (CAR); and (NYS) Safe School Against Violence in Education (SAVE).

In addition to my background in track & field, I have extensive experience in Outdoor & Adventure Activities (including high/low ropes course elements, indoor and outdoor rock climbing & bouldering), strength/fitness development, and a variety of tactical field games.
