TIPS FOR A SAFE RIDE
School buses are the safest way for students to travel, but children also need to do their part to stay alert and be aware of their surroundings to prevent injuries.
Here are some rules and regulations students should follow while riding the bus.
GETTING ON THE BUS
When waiting for the bus, stay away from traffic and avoid fooling around. That can lead to carelessness.
Do not stray onto the street, alleys, or private property.
Line up away from the street or road as the bus approaches.
Wait until the bus has stopped and the door opens before approaching the bus.
Use the handrail when boarding
Behavior on the bus
Seatbelts must be used by all students.
Do not do anything to distract the driver.
Stay in your seat.
Do not put your head, arm, or hands out the window.
Keep the aisles clear of books and bags.
Get your belongings together before reaching your stop.
Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before getting up from your seat.
Remain seated at all times.
Getting off the bus
Use the handrail while getting off the bus.
If you have to cross in front of the bus, be sure all traffic has stopped and you walk around the crossing bar.
Never cross behind the bus.
Thank you from the entire Monmouth Regional Transportation Department for helping to keep our students safe both on and off the bus.
VOCATIONAL STUDENT INFORMATION UPDATED FOR 2023-2024:
When MRHS is closed and vocational is open, MRHS will provide transportation.
ALL AM/PM Vocational students must come to MRHS to catch the bus going to the vocational school (this means you will NOT be picked up at your home- you need to arrive at MRHS before your vocational bus run leaves)
Students coming back from AM VOC will need to find a ride home from MRHS.
PM Vocational students will be driven to their bus stops at the end of the day.
If you attend the Vocational Academies, and take a regular school bus to MRHS, then transfer to a shuttle bus - you will need to arrive at MRHS before your shuttle bus leaves MRHS. You will be driven to your bus stop at the end of the day.
